To keep Edmonton Transit riders warm and safe in the winter months, RPK was chosen by the city to undertake a feasibility study of winterizing ten existing above ground LRT stations that span from Clareview to Kingsway.

Our work explored how to better protect patrons from the elements, while considering CPTED and maintenance considerations. Three existing station typologies were identified with a broad approach being developed for each. The work looked at station improvements holistically addressing not just mechanical systems but the integration of lighting and art in combating the perception of cold by clients.
